When I was reading some of the recent reviews for the hotel, I noticed that the resort fees were listed as a common 'complaint'. We also appreciated the option to pull cash back with our store purchases for $2 or less, to avoid the ridiculous ATM fees inside the casinos (most charge $10 per transaction). We didn't really mind the short drive to the other casinos and attractions we wanted to see during the day, and we liked being close to a handful of local stores where groceries and other items were more reasonably priced. The hotel itself is away from the general hustle and bustle of the Strip, but not so far out that it felt like an 'inconvenient' location. The garage is connected directly to the casino, with plenty of spaces available for guests, and it feels much safer than some of the others we visited. I chose Palace Station over a 'fancier' hotel on the Strip for several reasons: First, it's a place that consistently offers travelers quality accommodations that are clean, safe, and super-affordable by Vegas standards, you don't often encounter the 'drunk and rowdy' crowd at the gaming tables or on the casino floor, and it's one of the few places left in town that still offers free parking. I booked this trip as a last-minute getaway for our 10 year wedding anniversary, after our original plans for a Maui vacation were abruptly canceled by Mother Nature. Sixt Car Rentals had a $42 a day online special, and at the airport, we were offered a free upgrade to a BMW Hybrid SUV in exchange for leaving a positive review.

Since we were in town this time for 5 days, I decided to rent a car. When visiting Las Vegas in the years that followed, I alternated between staying here or (if I wanted to be on the Strip) the Monte Carlo. I've been coming to the Palace Station since 1996, and I have to say that I've never once had a 'bad stay'.
